AMA
The Indian Medical Association (IMA), the national organization of "Doctors of Modern Scientific System of Medicine", was organized in 1928. IMA function through a network of more than 1700 local branches, located in different part of India.
As per the records available and best of our knowledge, Ahmedabad Medical Association is an oldest medical association of India and also one of the oldest medical association of the world. Membership strength wise also, it has the biggest number of membership.

Dear Members and Colleagues,
It is with profound honour and deep humility that I, Dr. Kalpita Dave, assume the office of President of the Ahmedabad Medical Association, our distinguished institution as it celebrates its 125th year.
I am acutely conscious of the rich legacy I inherit—a legacy built over generations through medical excellence, selfless community service, professional camaraderie, and an unwavering commitment to the welfare of society. The trust reposed in me by our esteemed members is both a privilege and a responsibility, and I accept it with sincere gratitude and a firm resolve to serve the Association to the best of my ability.
This milestone year presents us with a unique opportunity—not only to honour our illustrious past, but also to chart a purposeful and progressive course for the future. My vision for the year is twofold: the continued upliftment and strengthening of our esteemed Association, and the holistic empowerment of women within our medical community, particularly those in the families of our members.
Pink Ab Project
At the heart of my vision lies the “Pink Ab Project,” a dream initiative close to my heart. Through this project, we aim to offer free screening mammography and abdominal sonography for the early detection of breast and gynaecological cancers.
Early diagnosis remains the most powerful weapon in the fight against cancer. This initiative is my personal commitment to safeguarding the health and well-being of the women who form the backbone of our families and society. I earnestly seek the support of our members, diagnostic partners, philanthropists, and allied healthcare institutions in taking this initiative to as many deserving women as possible.
Aao Gaon Chalen
We shall further intensify our social engagement through charitable medical camps under the banner of “Aao Gaon Chalen”. These camps will enable us to reach underserved and remote populations, providing essential healthcare services, preventive screening, health education, and appropriate referral support.Through collective action with governmental bodies and social institutions, we can extend the healing touch of our profession beyond the consultation room and hospital walls.
CPR Awareness and Young Cardiac Deaths
The alarming rise in sudden cardiac deaths among young individuals is a pressing concern that demands our immediate attention. As medical professionals, we will prioritize the promotion of CPR training and awareness activities across schools, colleges, workplaces, residential societies, and public institutions. Equipping citizens with the confidence and skill to respond during the crucial “golden period” can make the difference between life and loss.
Member Welfare and Professional Security
Protecting the interests, dignity, and welfare of our members in their professional practice remains paramount. We will actively address issues concerning violence against medical professionals, medical indemnity, professional liability, and insurance-related challenges.
Our endeavour will be to create a supportive and secure environment in which every member can practice medicine with confidence, peace of mind, and professional satisfaction. The Association will remain a strong collective voice for the medical fraternity of Ahmedabad.
Community, Camaraderie, and Well-being
Beyond our professional and social commitments, I firmly believe in nurturing a strong sense of belonging within our Association. We will organize cultural, entertainment, and sports programmes that provide opportunities for members and their families to come together, bond, relax, and rejuvenate.
These gatherings are not merely events; they are the threads that strengthen the fabric of our Association and preserve the spirit of friendship that has defined it for 125 years.

As we embark on this meaningful journey together, I earnestly call upon each member to contribute your skills, expertise, time, and enthusiasm. Your active participation is vital to the success of every initiative we undertake.
